Homemade pizza with ease like an Italian grandma, along with tomato sauce that goes well with the dough

Ingredients (4 servings):

  •  500 grams of flour.
  •  2 teaspoons of dry yeast.
  •  a teaspoon of sugar.
  •  Teaspoon salt.
  •  3-4 tablespoons of olive oil.
  •  1/3 + 1 cup lukewarm water.

To prepare the tomato sauce:

  •  A little olive oil.
  •  3 peeled and chopped tomatoes.
  •  5 crushed garlic cloves.
  •  A handful of fresh basil.
  •  1/2 teaspoon sugar.
  •  1 teaspoon salt.
  •  2 tablespoons tomato paste.
  •  1 teaspoon dry thyme.

for assembly:

300 grams of grated cheese of any kind you want to spread on pizza

 Your favorite toppings (mushrooms, olives, salted cheese, etc.)


  1. Prepare the pizza dough: Mix the flour, dry yeast and sugar in a bowl. Make a hole in the bowl, pour water, oil and salt into it and start kneading. While kneading, add an additional 1/4 cup of water until a pliable dough forms. Shape the dough into a ball and brush it with a little flour. Return to the bowl, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and swell for about half an hour.
  2. After the homemade pizza dough has risen, grease a floured baking sheet with a little flour on a work surface. Place the dough on a prepared baking sheet and roll it into a round shape (the amount is enough for one or two large pizzas).Transfer it to a skillet and using light presses, create a kind of frame around the pizza.
  3. How to prepare the sauce: Put the tomatoes with garlic in a frying pan with olive oil. Cook for a few minutes and add the basil, the rest of the spices and the puree. Take off the fire.
  4. Grease the edges of the dough with olive oil, spread the sauce on the base of the dough, sprinkle with cheese and your favorite toppings, and bake the pizza in Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and bake until golden brown (start checking after 15 minutes).
